We want
all our invited speakers to address three aspects of humic substances in
your talks. Below we have listed some hints for your lectures.
Friday
morning:
Your "favourite" method(s) for studying humic substances, pros and cons of
these methods. Sampling protocols. New methods and why these methods are
considered to be promising. Are there any methods that should not be
recommended any more?
Friday
afternoon:
The most interesting results obtained with specific methods. Recent findings
of major interest, which have been reported by other researchers. Unsolved
questions concerning molecular structures? Is it fair to say that there are
conflicting "schools" concerning humic matter properties?
Saturday
morning:
The coupling between humic molecule structures and biological functioning -
e.g. providing microorganisms with carbon and energy; the availability of
organic compounds and metals; the cycling of nutrient in soils.
Saturday
afternoon:
Discussion session: How could reseachers working with humic substances and
soil biologists cooperate in the best way? What are our common interests?
What problems/research areas need inputs from both sides?
